In the early 1990's Ferrari were looking to produce another model to fill the void left by the 412 but this time wanted something that created an impact, was notably faster than anything before it in its class, and allowed enough space to take four passengers and luggage. It was, at the time, the fastest road production GT car produced to date. Despite the ultimate super car performance, the 5.5 litre V12 engine that is derived from the V6 Dino unit, is relatively unstressed and consequently remains an incredibly reliable engine if well maintained. The Ferrari built, Bosch Motronic fuel injected, V12 utilises 48 valves and produces 436bhp taking it from 0-60mph in an impressive 5.1 seconds and on to a top speed of 186mph!

This superb example finished in Verde Mugello with Beige leather and Castoro carpets and optioned with fitted matching luggage, was first delivered to Venezuela in 1996 but bought and registered for warranty reasons in 1997 by the well-known television network owner Mr. Marcel Grainer. Mr Grainer, was once accused of supporting a coup attempt through his television network in 2002 against the then President, Hugo Chávez and the government. Preemtively, in 2000 the family escaped and moved, through fear of political unrest, to France and the beloved Ferrari was not left behind! With only 6500km on the odometer at the time, the 456 received a major service with Ferrari and Maserati specialist Auvergne Moteurs to a sum of 4797.30 Euros. Three years later and 3000km accumulated, Mr Grainer sent the Ferrari in for another service. The 456 was used conservatively for the next three years covering only 300 or so miles and the 10,000km major service was methodically performed. A mere 3000km later, the Ferrari was serviced again, without concern of the cost, to ensure that it remained mechanically perfect. At this time, in 2011, the Ferrari is then shown to pass into the name of Mr Grainer’s daughter, Christina Grainer, in order to bring it to the UK. However, it is understood to have very much remained the possession of her father. The Ferrari was once again methodically serviced at regular intervals with another Ferrari specialist here in the UK, Maranello Egham, until it finally left the family and was bought by a local collector who has used it sparingly since and evidently with the same care and attention to keeping this Ferrair 456 GT in near new condition.

With only 17,500km (10,873 miles), and in the rare Verde Mugello, this exceptionally well maintained and cared for 456 GT is nothing short of a great find. Complete with full service history from new, factory optioned matching fitted luggage, books, tools, jack and space saver wheel.
