This superb Aston Martin comes to market for the first time in 14 years having been collector owned throughout its life. This matching numbers 1979 V8 Volante, originally finished in Crimson Red with Cream Leather Trim  and manual transmission, now painted Buckingham Green, has the distinction of being an early right-hand drive Volante with an added benefit of an upgraded V580 Vantage specification engine, done by an authorised Aston Martin dealer, Stratton Motor Company.

Sold new by St. Helier Garages Ltd of Jersey in 1979 to a Dr. Kirch, who in good order, serviced the V8 regularly, as shown by original service stamps in the history file. He lovingly owned the Aston for a decade until 1989, when he decided to finally sell it to the second  owner based in the UK. Used sparingly for seasonal use, it was then sold in 1991. The Third owner, Mr. Hardcastle, another collector, then stored the Aston and used it occasionally for summer AMOC events and shows. After two years of enjoyment, the Aston is noted as having 41,688 miles and was described as concours condition. Prior to sale, the Aston was fully serviced at a cost of £5269.74 in 1995, and sold to a renowned newspaper entrepreneur (who's choice of registration plate remains with the car - Average 149 copies per second - AVG 149S) and a well renowned Aston Martin enthusiast and collector, Mr E. Shah. It was in his care and enthusiasm for the marque that the Aston was sent to Stratton Motor Company in 1998 to have a number of Vantage specification upgrades, including the engine improved from V540 to V580 Vantage specification and new sports exhausts installed. The servicing and upgrade amounted to a little over £26,000 at the time! At the end of 1999 the Aston appears to then be sold to a Mexican collector, although it is believed the Aston remained in the UK where it was maintained by The Aston Workshop. It was at this point in time, in 2003, that Mr Castello decided to perform some cosmetic restorations and spent almost £30,000, which included repainting the Aston to its current colour of Buckingham Green to closely match that of the original Prince of Wales spec V8 Volante.  The interior was also totally gone through, renewed and refreshed where needed. However, it was decided to keep the original colour combination of cream leather with red piping and red carpets to contrast the green, a great choice. At the same time, the V8 front spoiler was installed to further give this V8 Volante the look of a POW  or PMoK spec example.

Purchased by the current owner in 2004, this incredibly well-maintained Aston has received roughly £73,610 in servicing and maintenance over the last 14 years. This V8 has been maintained annually regardless of cost and use. The V8 has been taken to specialists Aston Heritage and Aston Service London for any servicing requirements. Mechanically, this Aston has had everything that might have been required, done without hesitation to cost. The chassis has received servicing including brakes, suspension, underside coatings,  further engine work, fluids and filters, hoses, new clutch in 2015, electrics and anything and everything to make this Aston as superb as possible. Having driven this V8 from London to our showroom in Bibury, we can say first hand that this Aston performed flawlessly and it will not disappoint.

This 1979 Aston Martin V8 Volante ‘Vantage’ is complete with its extensive history file, tools, jack and car cover. It would make a wonderful seasonal tourer and a welcomed car at almost all events, including classic rallies. This Aston has been incredibly well maintained and is ready for its next custodian.
