The Alfa Romeo Montreal started life as a styling exercise for the company when they produced two concept cars for the 1967 Expo in Montreal, Canada - hence the name.  They proved so popular that the company decided to turn it into a full blow production reality.  The small capacity V8 engine displacing 2.6 litres was developed from Alfa’s highly successful T33 program and was combined with a ZF 5-speed manual box.  Producing 200 BHP with help from the electronic ignition and mechanical fuel-injection the car was good fro 220km/hr.

The styling was provided by Bertone and is wonderful from any angle.  The four headlamps are partly covered by a seductive grill that retracts when the lights are on, the scoop in the centre on the bonnet is in fact blank and just an optical trick to make the power bulge look smaller and there are fabulous cooling slats behind the doors to help cabin cooling.

The interior is again a fantastic bit of styling, the whole experience is a time machine back to the late ‘60s.  The beautiful seats, large black switches and twin pod dial set up are stunning.

Given all this, it is no surprising that in period they were more expensive than either a Jaguar E-Type or a Porsche 911 and yet they proved very popular and 3,925 were produced during their 7 years production run from 1970-’77.

The European, LHD example we offer here is from 1972.  Finished in white with a blue interior the car is in lovely condition throughout having had a resprayed and overhauled in Germany in 2016.  The car remains registered in German although we can assist with registration should the car stay in the UK.

This is great example of these highly sort after cars that drives very well and looks stunning.  The paint finish is wonderful and the engine note crisp.

The car is available for immediate inspection
