In the aftermath of the Second Would War Rover realized that there was a market for a specialized off-road vehicle and having studied the Willies Jeep that the Americans used so successfully during the war they launched the Land Rover in 1948.  A simple yet sturdy design, the model has become an icon of the 50s, 60s and 70s and they were used for many roles from tractors and recovery vehicles to artic exploration vehicles and everything in between.  The model was developed over the years becoming known as the series I, II and III although the basic principles remained very much the same through out the entire production run.

The series Land Rovers are so stylish and eminently useable but more importantly they are a huge amount of fun.  There is a very active owners club and many specialists should you want to go out and explore, plus they can help with advice and parts should you ever need them.

The car we offer here is a 1983 Series 3 finished in the classic dark green with a cream roof and a black interior.  This car is a diesel example with the 2.25 ltr engine. The car has been in one family’s ownership its whole life and has clearly been very well looked after covering only 27,500 miles from new.  As you would expect of such a car it retained its original chassis, engine, gearbox and axels.  Following a period without use the engine was fully rebuilt by specialists Turner Engineering in 2014 and the car has covered just 12 miles since.  The bodywork is also in very good condition with no major blemishes, which combined with the single family ownership, fleshly rebuilt engine and low mileage will give you as close to the feeling of a new car as possible.
